About Blaenau Gwent
Blaenau Gwent is a principal area in south Wales, located in the heads of the valleys. Historically a major centre for coal mining and ironworking, it was one of the most industrialised parts of Wales. The population is approximately 67,000, with Ebbw Vale as the largest town. Notable landmarks include the Big Pit National Coal Museum (partially within the area), the Ebbw Vale Steelworks site, and the surrounding moorland of the Brecon Beacons. The area has faced significant economic challenges following industrial decline. You can download the administrative boundary in GeoJSON and KML formats for further use.
