About Swansea
Swansea (Abertawe) is a principal area and city in south Wales, the second-largest in Wales. Located on the Swansea Bay coastline, it has a rich industrial history in copper and steel. The population is approximately 246,000. Notable landmarks include the Swansea Maritime Quarter, the National Waterfront Museum, and the Gower Peninsula (Britain's first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) with its beaches and cliffs. The city underwent significant redevelopment after WWII bombing and is known as the birthplace of poet Dylan Thomas.
