Carmarthenshire (Sir Gaerfyrddin) is a principal area in southwest Wales, known as the 'Garden of Wales'. It encompasses the Tywi Valley, Black Mountain range, and coastline along Carmarthen Bay. Historically the largest county in Wales, it is considered a cradle of Welsh culture. The population is approximately 188,000, with Carmarthen as the administrative center.
