About Shetland Islands
The Shetland Islands are a subarctic archipelago in northern Scotland, located approximately 170 km north of mainland Scotland. Comprising around 100 islands (16 inhabited), Shetland features rugged coastlines, deep voes (sea inlets), and a strong Norse cultural heritage. The population is about 23,000, with Lerwick as the main town. Notable landmarks include Jarlshof prehistoric site, Mousa Broch, and the annual Up Helly Aa fire festival. The islands are also significant for North Sea oil operations. You can download the administrative boundary in GeoJSON and KML formats for further use.
